Rebates to Fall: STC Water Rebates Dive December 31

Thinking about installing a solar hot water system? Now’s the time to act to secure the best STC rebates available under the Small-scale Technology Certificate (STC) scheme.

The rebates, which are designed to significantly reduce the upfront costs of solar hot water systems, will be dropping after the clock strikes 12 on December 31, 2024.

QLD’s Love Affair with Solar

Queensland has a longstanding love affair with solar. The state has long been the leader in solar energy adoption across Australia, and for good reason.

Our reliably sunny climate, coupled with the growing demand for energy efficiency nationwide, means homeowners in the sunshine state are making the most of the opportunity to turn a little sunshine into energy.

As of 2023, Queensland boasted an impressive 1.8 million solar power systems, representing around one third of the country’s total solar.

What Are STC Rebates?

The STC rebate scheme is an incentive provided by the Federal Government to encourage adoption of renewable energy.

STC rebates are provided to homeowners who install eligible solar systems, with the value depending on several factors, such as the system's size and efficiency – essentially, how much solar energy it will capture.

When you install a solar hot water system with a registered plumber, a cash rebate is available to apply directly to the cost of your new system.

How the Rebates Help Homeowners Invest in Solar

The STC scheme offers homeowners a significant cost offset on heat pump hot water installation and installing solar hot water systems, enabling adoption of this money- and planet-saving tech.

How to Maximise Your Rebate

To get the maximum rebate possible under the scheme, it’s important to act quickly.

  • Install before December 31. The best way to maximize your rebate is to have your solar hot water system installation done before the end of the year.

  • Choose an efficient system. Larger, more efficient solar hot water systems capture more solar energy, so they tend to qualify for a greater number of STCs.

  • Work with certified solar installers. They can help you navigate the rebate process, making sure your system qualifies for the highest rebate possible.

With the STC hot water rebates set to fall soon, now is the best time to get solar hot water.

Don't wait—speak to your trusted solar hot water installer to secure your highest rebate possible before it’s too late!
